This experience contains significant departures from biblical theology despite some compatible elements. The out-of-body experience and consciousness after death align with scripture. However, major concerns arise throughout. The statement that the higher soul has "been through this so many times before" explicitly endorses reincarnation, directly contradicting Hebrews 9:27 that humans die once then face judgment. References to souls with "memory of thousands of lifetimes" reinforces this anti-biblical doctrine. The concept of universal communion where all souls periodically merge into one consciousness reflects Eastern monism or New Age philosophy rather than biblical theism, which maintains eternal distinctions between God and creation, and between individual souls. The description of helping lost souls "return home" through personal effort rather than through Christ contradicts John 14:6. The philosophy that "learning to live is preparing to die" while poetic, lacks the biblical emphasis on living for God's glory and preparing for judgment. The entire framework of soul evolution, multiple lifetimes, and ultimate unity of all consciousness stands in direct opposition to biblical teaching about creation, fall, redemption, and eternal destinies.
At age 53 in spring 2003, a genetic condition caused the experiencer's heart to stop beating in an emergency room. Fully awake when dying, they felt their last breath pass and heart stop. They were catapulted out of body into what they call the "sphere of universal communion" - appearing as aware light where all individual souls exist as spheres of communion. The experiencer describes being a sphere of aware light among infinite others, with two aspects: Understanding (higher soul) and Memory (lower soul/personality). Contact between spheres resulted in spontaneous exchange of all knowledge and experience. They experienced periodic universal communion when all spheres merge into one consciousness. The return journey passed through a darker realm of confused souls unaware of their death, simply reliving memories. Contact with these souls sometimes awakened them to return home. The body was dead for two minutes but the experience felt like many years. Eight years later, they shared this account, having dedicated their life to expressing lessons learned. They maintain sensitivity to perceive everyone as spheres of aware light even with bodies, believing the same communion occurs here though harder to perceive. They conclude that learning to live is preparing to die, and preparing to die is learning to live.
