On May 11, 2024, an acupuncturist in her 30s was driving home from dinner in Hoboken, NJ on the turnpike at 11:44 PM. While in the right lane at 60+ mph, a car suddenly appeared directly in front of her. She swerved left to avoid it but encountered another car in the middle lane, forcing her to swerve back right where she lost control. Looking out the window, she saw a purplish-blue veil or cloud and had a vision of a major car pile-up on the turnpike that would be caused by her disabled vehicle. She saw her parents being awakened hours later by police notifying them of her death. She felt deep sadness for what this would do to her family. She then clearly sensed the presence of her friend Walter who had died in 2007 and her maternal grandfather who died in the 1960s before she was born. She felt her grandfather "holding back" the line of cars headed toward her while Walter was closer, telling her to look down at the gear shift and restart the car. Following his guidance, she managed to restart the vehicle and reach the left shoulder just as cars whizzed by. The police officer who responded told her she should have been dead. The experience profoundly changed her life and practice. She had to take 2.5 months off from her acupuncture practice and could only work part-time upon return. She walked away without physical injury but had a concussion despite not hitting her head.
