The encounter with an angelic-looking woman who provided reassurance could align with biblical accounts of angelic visitations, particularly those providing comfort to children. The out-of-body experience during a life-threatening situation doesn't inherently contradict scripture.
However, the mention of seeing visions of past lives directly contradicts biblical teaching, which affirms "it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment" (Hebrews 9:27). At approximately age 7, a girl had a drowning accident in a friend's pool when rough play resulted in her being held underwater too long. The traumatic incident led to a profound near-death experience that was subsequently repressed for many years due to additional trauma and the response of adults present.
As she drifted toward the bottom of the pool, everything seemed to sparkle and she remained floating there. Her consciousness then separated from her body and floated to about 10 feet above the pool. Though initially confused, she was met by an angelic-looking woman with whom she communicated telepathically. The being provided reassurance about what had happened. She vaguely recalls seeing a life review and visions of past lives during the experience. She believes she was shown her life purpose and the impact she would make on people in the world. No specific veridical observations were reported, though she observed the pool scene from above. She suddenly returned to her body while receiving mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, experiencing energy surging throughout her body. The aftermath was complicated by the friend's mother instructing her not to tell anyone about what happened, causing her throat to close up at that moment. This contributed to memory suppression - she had another traumatic experience 3-4 years later causing amnesia, and didn't recall this NDE until age 26. Now at age 30, remembering the experience has completely turned her life around, though she struggles to recall details vividly. She hopes that writing and talking about it more will help unfold additional memories. |
