While this childhood NDE contains some biblical elements like encountering a loving maternal figure who could represent Mary or an angel, and receiving divine protection and prophecy, it also includes problematic elements. The promise that God would "never leave" aligns with biblical assurance. However, the mention of past life memories and reincarnation directly contradicts biblical teaching about appointed once to die (Hebrews 9:27). The psychic abilities and seeing deceased daughter as a spirit could be interpreted various ways. The prophetic number 23 proving significant throughout life could be seen as divine foreknowledge. The experience seems to blend Christian elements with new age concepts like reincarnation and psychic phenomena, making it only partially compatible with biblical doctrine.
At age five during Christmas 1951, while severely ill with double pneumonia and likely pericarditis, the experiencer had a profound spiritual encounter. Surrounded by "brown velvet" or "brown fluid," they encountered a Lady emanating indescribable light - a light that was embracing, representing pure love, safety, acceptance, and mothering. The Lady warned that this life would be "catastrophic" and gave the significant number "23." She asked if they were willing to live this lifetime and promised God would never leave them. When their mother shook them, thinking they were dying, they were torn from the Lady saying "Leave me alone. I want to stay with the lady." Throughout life, significant events occurred on the 23rd of various months. Their daughter, conceived July 23, 1986, began suffering mental illness/spiritual assault in her twenties and died by suicide at age 23 on March 2nd (3/2), calling at 3:02 PM and 4:23 PM. The experiencer felt their daughter's soul pass through them at death. The number 23 was given as protection to survive their daughter's death. They've had multiple spiritual experiences including seeing their daughter whole and healed on October 23, 2011, meeting angels, past life memories, and now care for a foster child born May 23rd. The experience provided certainty that loved ones remain with us beyond death.
