While the out-of-body experience itself doesn't contradict scripture, the resulting beliefs do. The OBE during medical crisis could be interpreted as the spirit temporarily separating from the body, which has some biblical precedent (2 Corinthians 12:2-3). However, her post-NDE belief in reincarnation directly contradicts Hebrews 9:27 "it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." Her rejection of biblical heaven in favor of "another dimension" and belief that souls "come back again and again" opposes core Christian doctrine of resurrection and eternal life. Her statement "I don't believe in one and done anymore" explicitly rejects biblical teaching. While maintaining Christian identity, her actual beliefs align more with Eastern religions or New Age spirituality. The experience led her away from rather than toward biblical truth.
During a problematic labor lasting over 24 hours, Tamara underwent an emergency C-section when the baby's vitals became critical. The surgery began before proper numbing, causing her to scream in pain, then her blood pressure dropped. She felt herself leave her body and observed the operating room from above, seeing everyone in the room and the other side of the drape where surgery was happening. She told the anesthesiologist "I'm leaving," which her husband heard. The anesthesiologist scrambled and injected something, with her husband reporting they slammed a hypo needle into her leg, bringing her back to her body. Her daughter was born with an Apgar score of 2, requiring resuscitation and removal of bile from her throat. Tamara needed a blood transfusion for blood loss. During the OBE, she experienced only visual perception without sound, like watching TV with sound off, seeing the entire room in slow motion. She felt calm, aware, peaceful, and experienced unity with the world. The experience changed her beliefs from traditional Christian heaven concepts to believing in soul continuation and reincarnation, though she maintains Christian identity.
