psychedelics, universal source, all from same source
This experience contains many biblical NDE elements including out-of-body travel, encountering a spiritual being who provided comfort, viewing a tunnel with light recognized as "home," and miraculous knowledge of events beyond physical perception. The being's assurance that "everything will be alright" could represent angelic comfort, and the massive hand that pushed him back might symbolize divine intervention preserving his life. The ability to see through walls and know distant conversations parallels biblical accounts of supernatural knowledge. The recognition of the light as "home" aligns with biblical concepts of our eternal dwelling place with God.

However, significant non-biblical elements emerged both during and after the experience. The person's subsequent use of psychedelics (5-meo-dmt, psilocybin) to pursue spiritual experiences directly contradicts biblical warnings against pharmakeia (sorcery/drugs). His belief that "we are all from the same source" reflects pantheistic rather than biblical theology. The transition from atheism to a syncretistic spirituality studying "Christianity, Hinduism and Buddhism" without accepting any specific faith represents the kind of spiritual confusion scripture warns against. Most concerning is his statement about becoming "one with the universe" through drug use and his belief that humans "only understand a sliver" of spiritual truth, contradicting biblical revelation. The severe depression and suicide attempts following the NDE, while treated with ketamine, suggest spiritual oppression that wasn't resolved through biblical means.
August developed severe ulcerative colitis at age 33 that progressed rapidly, requiring emergency colectomy surgery after months of failed treatments. The 11-hour surgery on January 6, 2020 was successful, but post-operatively his small intestines twisted upon themselves creating a complete obstruction. Despite his abdomen swelling to twice normal size and breathing difficulties, medical staff initially dismissed his concerns as normal post-surgical swelling.

When doctors finally attempted to manually untwist the intestines through his ileostomy, August felt a sharp jolt and detached from his body, hovering against the hospital ceiling. From this elevated perspective, he observed his prone form and the doctors' desperate efforts to unravel the twisted bowels. He could see through frosted glass and walls to glimpse neighboring patients' fearful faces. His body below screamed "I don't want to die yet." He then traversed a jagged, transparent tunnel drifting through space with stars visible through its walls, with a faint campfire-like light 300 meters away that he recognized as "home." A Being or energy presence on his right assured him telepathically that he had nothing to fear and everything would be alright, though he expressed fear about leaving his wife and unfinished matters.

Key observations included seeing his father-in-law in another room speaking on the phone to his wife - a conversation he could hear despite the distance and chaos. He observed specific medical procedures being performed on himself and remembered details like the tops of the doctors' heads. He verified these observations later with the doctors and his father-in-law. When he tried to move toward the light, a massive hand emerged through the tunnel and forcefully pushed him back to the hospital ceiling.

After another eight-hour surgery to correct the twisted intestine, he recovered well. The experience transformed him from atheist to deeply spiritual, though he struggled with severe depression afterward, attempting suicide three times before finding healing through ketamine therapy and psychedelics. He now meditates, studies various spiritual traditions, and has lost his fear of death.
