Jerome experienced chest discomfort that progressively worsened over hours, spreading to his arm and neck. Despite feeling unwell, he went to work but collapsed in the emergency room. He heard a distinct pop/snap sound in his head and found his consciousness outside his body, observing medical staff working on him in dark luminous red clothing. He felt guilt about abandoning work responsibilities. He realized he was having an NDE and willed himself back into his body despite the pain. He exited again, observing from a different angle, but the guilt persisted. After serious consideration, he decided it was unfair to stay out of body while others depended on him.
