The experience contains many classic NDE elements including the tunnel, otherworldly realm, spiritual guide, life review, and profound transformation. The encounter with a loving intelligent being, the beautiful music described as love made into sound, and the walled city could align with biblical imagery of heaven or the New Jerusalem. The anger toward God and subsequent understanding represents a spiritual wrestling similar to biblical figures.
However, the experience diverges significantly from biblical teaching in crucial ways. The concept that souls choose their earthly lives and suffering contradicts biblical sovereignty and the fallen nature of creation. The idea of multiple lives for spiritual growth suggests reincarnation, which opposes biblical teaching of one life followed by judgment. The dismissal of all religion as farce while maintaining generic spirituality, and the belief that humans are eternal beings who preexist their earthly lives, directly contradicts core biblical doctrines of creation, salvation, and the unique role of Christ.
At age 15, Sarah was at a party in the woods where she made the fatal decision to accept drugs without knowing their effects. The drugs caused terrifying hallucinations where faces morphed into demons and monsters. In desperate terror, she ran into a bonfire to escape, lighting up like a Roman candle before someone pulled her out. She was then hidden and left in darkness on the ground, going into shock and knowing she was going to die.
She was pulled up through a dark round tunnel and set down on a dark plain - a rocky, treeless expanse covered in grey mist with unfamiliar stars overhead. To her right stood a huge ancient stone wall with a city behind it, from which beautiful music floated down that was love and hope made into sound. She realized she had no body but felt whole, with no more drug hallucinations. She had an invisible tether attached to her left side trailing back to Earth where she could faintly feel her dying body. A glowing star being approached as her guide, radiating calm loving intelligence. When she realized God was real, she became furiously angry at all the pain and suffering, swelling with unchecked power. A chess board appeared and the guide told her she chooses her life and suffering on Earth. The guide explained we are eternal beings of energy and love who choose Earth lives for growth, showing her pertinent life moments and telling her children needed to be born. After being convinced to return despite not wanting to go back to her damaged body, the guide healed her as much as allowed while she was pulled back through the tunnel. She woke at dawn with Earth stars overhead, alone in the clearing. She cleaned up her life, became a nurse, and remained grateful for the NDE that saved her from herself, though she believes religion is a farce while spreading love in the world. |
