I JH's experience contains both compatible and problematic elements from a biblical perspective. The positive aspects include the life review showing both happy and sad experiences, which could relate to biblical concepts of accountability. The overwhelming feelings of peace, warmth, and love could reflect divine love. The light-filled otherworldly realm might represent heavenly dimensions. The lasting impact leading to belief in an afterlife aligns with biblical teaching about eternal existence. The experience of being outside normal time and space reflects the eternal nature of the spiritual realm.
However, significant concerns arise from several elements. He describes feeling "wrapped by a goddess of love," which suggests a feminine deity incompatible with biblical monotheism. This reference to a goddess rather than the biblical God is particularly problematic. Additionally, he reports seeing "ghost-like forms" at ages 15 and 18 following the NDE, which suggests ongoing paranormal experiences that the Bible warns against (Leviticus 19:31). The absence of any reference to God, Jesus, or biblical spiritual beings is notable. While the experience itself might have been genuine, the interpretation through a framework including goddesses and subsequent ghost sightings indicates influence from non-biblical spiritual sources. I JH experienced an NDE in 2007 at age 9 when his older sister accidentally hit him between the eyes, causing him to faint. Though he thought he was unconscious for 30-40 minutes, it was actually less than 5 minutes. During this time, his sister and mother were trying to shake him awake with worried expressions on their faces.
During the experience, he felt an incredibly warm sensation and found himself in a comfortable sitting or lying position in a place he cannot describe in words. He was in an extremely vast unknown space that seemed wrapped with unknowable light. Though uncertain, he felt the space was surrounded by light of a mystical origin. He experienced something like watching a movie of all his life experiences, seeing the people and faces of people he knew. The images were moving with a motion blur effect, and his thoughts were faster than usual. For what he perceived as 30-40 minutes, he happily watched these moving images while receiving an indescribable feeling of warmth and love. He felt wrapped by a goddess of love with a feeling he has never experienced while alive on earth. The emotions included incredible peace, happiness, and harmony with nature. He saw both happy and sad experiences that were memorable in his life flash before him beyond his control. When he regained consciousness after what felt like lights turning off and coming out of the space, he felt extreme happiness as if he had gone on a journey to a place no one knew about. Though it happened 14 years ago, the memories remain vivid. The experience led him to believe there might be an afterlife. At ages 15 and 18, he saw ghost-like forms, which he attributes to the after-effects of this experience. |
