While the NDE contained some elements consistent with spiritual experiences (out-of-body awareness, heightened consciousness, peace), the content and aftermath diverge significantly from biblical Christianity. The entity identifying itself as "Heimdall" - a Norse pagan deity - is deeply problematic from a biblical perspective, as is the claim of being her "oldest friend" suggesting past life connections. Scripture warns against communication with spirits claiming to be gods (1 Corinthians 10:20). Her conversion from Christianity to paganism directly contradicts biblical monotheism and exclusive worship of the God of Israel. The embrace of reincarnation opposes Hebrews 9:27 which states humans die once then face judgment. While the promise of provision could align with Matthew 6:26, the source and context make it suspect. The experience led her away from Christ rather than toward Him, which contradicts the test of spirits in 1 John 4:1-3.
On September 21, 1999, Jeanette had a severe asthma attack with sudden onset, dropping to less than 40% lung function within 15 minutes. After over an hour of unsuccessful treatment, she was clinically dead for six minutes. She had an out-of-body experience observing medical staff working on her body, aware of injections but feeling nothing. She was then lifted into a void with subconscious sensation of being in space above Earth. Her alertness exceeded anything previously experienced - perfectly aware with no positive or negative sensations, just peace that earthly problems were finished. Another presence identified itself as her "oldest friend" named Heimdall (name unknown to her), telling her she would always have what she needed. After asking "Am I dead?" she awoke after being unconscious nearly a week. She was told she should have died or been vegetative. She later learned Heimdall is a Norse deity name but believes this was a past life connection. Since then, she always has had necessities provided through unusual circumstances. Her religious path changed from Christianity to eclectic paganism with interest in reincarnation.
