Leïla's near-death experience contains significant elements that conflict with biblical Christianity. While some aspects like the transformative white light encounter and lasting focus on love could be interpreted positively, the overall experience includes distinctly unbiblical elements. The underground realm with "dark souls" floating near the ground suggests a liminal space inconsistent with biblical descriptions of the afterlife, which presents heaven and hell as distinct destinations rather than waystation realms.
Most concerning is the appearance of the fluorescent-green "third eye" that guided her journey. The third eye concept originates from Hindu and Buddhist traditions, representing enlightenment and spiritual sight through the sixth chakra. This is fundamentally incompatible with biblical Christianity, which warns against occult practices and false spiritual guides (2 Corinthians 11:14). Her instinctive recognition of this concept she claims not to have known suggests either prior unconscious exposure to New Age ideas or a deceptive spiritual encounter. Additionally, her post-NDE beliefs about universal connection and all religions containing truth directly contradict Jesus's exclusive claims (John 14:6). While her emphasis on love aligns with biblical values, the syncretic spiritual framework and occult symbolism make this experience highly problematic from a biblical perspective.
Three weeks after giving birth in 2011, Leïla was holding her baby when her body began trembling. She put her sleeping infant on the sofa and went to lie down on the opposite sofa, fainting before her head reached the pillow. The cause of her collapse remained unknown despite occurring in the postpartum period.
During her experience, Leïla found herself in an underground structure, floating and facing a stone wall. When the light went out, she turned to leave and hovered above dark souls floating close to the ground. She saw stairs leading up toward the surface in the distance and headed toward them, but aggressive rap music began playing and slowed her progress. She witnessed what she interpreted as another soul (a delivery person) escaping up the stairs. Moving to the right, she encountered a floating fluorescent-green eye that she instinctively recognized as "the third eye" despite having no prior knowledge of this concept. Following the eye through a narrowing, darkening tunnel, she experienced momentary fear of being trapped forever when everything went black. An enormous white light then appeared throughout the space. Leïla instinctively entered the light, understanding her earthly life was ending and she was facing death. She felt like sliding into a warm bath, experiencing happiness and awareness that suffering had stopped forever. Going deeper into the light, she communicated through thought, stating "If this is my time, I accept it." However, thinking of her children, she qualified her acceptance three times, saying she needed to care for them. After the third statement, she moved backward and opened her eyes. Upon return, Leïla heard classical music in her ear that was billions of times more wonderful than earthly music. For a week afterward, she couldn't stop crying, feeling sorry she had returned. The experience taught her that 99% of materialistic life is futile - only love counts and remains. She gained lasting awareness of universal connection despite earthly burdens. |
