Precognitive deja vu, Wicca
This experience presents concerning elements from a biblical perspective. While the basic out-of-body experience could be neutral, the complete emotional void and absence of any spiritual dimension is troubling. The experiencer's description of "nothingness" with no divine presence, light, or spiritual beings suggests either a spiritually vacant experience or possible deception. More concerning is her current practice of Wicca, a neo-pagan religion that directly opposes biblical Christianity. Wicca involves nature worship, spell-casting, and often goddess worship - all condemned in scripture as idolatry and witchcraft (Deuteronomy 18:10-12, Galatians 5:20). The development of precognitive abilities through deja vu could be seen as a form of divination, which the Bible explicitly forbids. Her statement about being raised without religion and not knowing if God exists, combined with her turn to Wicca, suggests the experience led her away from rather than toward biblical truth. The complete absence of emotion, love, or spiritual awareness during the NDE is unlike biblical accounts of spiritual experiences, which typically involve profound emotion and divine encounter. Donna J, a 17-year-old with braces preparing for senior prom, had a head-on collision at an intersection when another driver ran a yellow/red light. Her Toyota Corolla was thrown 20 feet backward by a 1979 Ford station wagon. She found herself above and to the right near the passenger side, looking down at the accident scene with complete emotional detachment. She observed a man open her door saying "Put her seat belt on before the cops get here" (despite no seat belt laws in 1987). She watched with dismay as rescue crews cut her favorite pants during extrication. From her elevated position, she observed the police officer noting she wore a seatbelt, firefighters stating her knees were wedged requiring dashboard breaking, and watched herself being loaded into the ambulance. Throughout, she felt absolutely no emotion - no fear, sadness, regret about her ending life, or thoughts of family. She experienced complete nothingness emotionally, comparing it to watching a stranger. She saw no light, deceased relatives, or felt any peace - just nothing. After the ambulance doors closed, she returned to her body, immediately angry about her cut pants and worried about her father's reaction to the damaged car. The experience left her with possible precognitive abilities (deja vu with dread before bad events) and absolute certainty about the experience's reality, though she gains no answers about the afterlife from her emotionless void-like experience.
