Initial NDE has biblical elements but subsequent teachings about human evolution into collective consciousness and regular OBE travel contradict biblical theology.
In mid-summer 1961, a 13-year-old boy had an NDE during a drowning incident at a public swimming pool in Israel. After betting a professional diver he could swim 83 yards underwater on one breath for a pair of flippers, he struggled underwater until winning became immaterial. He entered a deep unconscious state and was pronounced clinically dead.
Suddenly he felt vacuumed upward at great velocity through a long, dark, soft and secure pipe with bright light at the end. He found himself floating about twenty feet above the swimming pool with no fear of falling. Everything looked brighter but soft, with the horizon clearly visible. Looking down, he saw his body on the slab surrounded by people while the lifeguard performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and chest compressions. He could hear their thoughts and feelings. Despite screaming "Hey guys, nothing happened to me," no one looked his direction. A huge powerful being, nine or ten feet tall, floated beside him. The being was made of light, shining as if illuminated from within, with enormous powerful radiation yet not scary - like a big father with love and care. The being commanded with a loving voice: "You must go back. It is not your time yet. There are many duties you must complete... you will be back here in due time." Despite resistance, he was vacuumed back into his body and rushed to Tel Hashomer Hospital for examination. The experience initiated years of out-of-body experiences beginning in December 1962, with angelic instruction from the angel Lamdiel about universal consciousness and humanity's future evolution. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The experience contains strong biblical elements including angelic encounter (being of light 9-10 feet tall), divine command about life purpose and timing, out-of-body observation, and transition through darkness to light. The angel's message about duties to complete aligns with biblical concepts of divine purpose. Unbiblical elements: The subsequent teachings from "angel Lamdiel" about humanity evolving into a collective consciousness and humans bonding with a "huge spirit" represent New Age concepts incompatible with biblical theology. Claims of regular out-of-body travel at will and receiving prophetic messages about human evolution contradict biblical understanding. |
