Justin's near-death experience contains significant elements that conflict with orthodox biblical Christianity, despite some compatible features. On the positive side, his encounter with his deceased mother could align with biblical accounts of consciousness surviving death, and his being told he had unfinished work parallels biblical concepts of divine purpose. The gathering of observing spirits might correspond to biblical descriptions of heavenly witnesses. His experience of peace and the void could represent a transitional spiritual state.
However, the experience includes multiple highly problematic elements from a biblical perspective. Justin's claims of remembering his pre-birth existence and past lives directly contradict the biblical teaching that humans live once, die, and then face judgment (Hebrews 9:27). His belief that he chose to come to Earth for the experience and comparing life to a video game fundamentally conflicts with the biblical understanding that God creates each soul for His purposes. His interpretation that there is no hell except self-imposed attachment to past lives contradicts clear biblical teaching about eternal judgment. The concept of reincarnation and multiple life paths based on karma-like choices opposes Christian doctrine of salvation through grace. His statement that "god" exists but isn't the God of religions suggests a New Age universal consciousness rather than the personal God of the Bible. While Justin's experience was profound and transformative, its theological implications diverge significantly from biblical Christianity, embracing instead Eastern and New Age concepts incompatible with orthodox Christian faith.
On October 10, 2005, Justin was involved in a catastrophic head-on collision, hitting a truck at 90 mph in what he later revealed was a suicide attempt. After the devastating impact, he faded to black and entered what he describes as a void - a dark, black, empty, wide-open space that paradoxically brought him the most profound peace and calm he had ever experienced. In this void, Justin realized he could travel through it with just a thought and was about to propel himself deeper when he heard a voice telling him to stop, that it wasn't his time, and he still had work to do.
Turning to see who was speaking, Justin encountered his mother who had died when he was only six months old. Despite his protests and insistence that he didn't want to return to life, she showed him visions of his future - a woman holding a child who she identified as his future wife and child. His mother then revealed all the major details of his life until his death at age 47, showing him five different potential life paths based on the choices he would make. She explained this was his destined path but that his free will choices would affect its trajectory. During this profound exchange, Justin noticed many spirits or energies had gathered around them, silently observing their interaction. The veridical aspects of Justin's experience are particularly striking. He saw himself trapped in the wrecked car from approximately 30 yards away, observed his uncle trying to stop his bleeding with a shirt, and received detailed information about his future life. Remarkably, Justin didn't remember any of this experience until about a year before submitting his account, when memories began returning. He reports that everything his mother told him about his future has been happening exactly as shown. Upon deciding to return to his body after seeing his future family, Justin immediately woke up in the crashed car. The experience transformed his beliefs about death and the afterlife, convincing him that consciousness continues as energy after death, that reincarnation exists, and that the only "hell" is when spirits refuse to let go of their past lives. He now believes he chose to come to Earth for the experience, comparing human life to playing a video game for the experience it provides. |
