At age 12, Morena was at a tourist resort swimming pool using a rubber tire as a lifesaver since she couldn't swim. She suddenly went out of the tire and sank to the bottom. Initially worried, she then felt tranquil. Her entire life passed before her like a quick movie. She saw a tunnel and started crossing it with lovely beings present. She could feel their great kindness but couldn't confirm if any were family members. At the rear, she saw a light and knew something good was there, feeling peace, tranquility, and happiness. At the tunnel's end was a big light where she wanted to go, feeling something good was there. When she reached the pool bottom, she pushed herself upward despite tiredness and water in her lungs. She surfaced, breathed, and a child helped her out half-drowned but recovered quickly. The experience impacted her greatly - she initially thought it was normal until seeing a TV program about NDEs years later. She no longer feared death as much, knowing it wasn't as terrible as believed. Time seemed to slow during the experience. She felt unity with the world, incredible peace and happiness. The experience awakened curiosity about the topic and reduced her fear of the unknown. She later had many out-of-body experiences and saw beings around her, developing possible psychic abilities.
