pantheism, reincarnation, nihilistic philosophy
This experience profoundly contradicts biblical teaching despite containing some NDE elements. The vision of becoming one with the universe where "everything was him" represents pantheism, directly opposing the biblical Creator-creation distinction. The voice's statement "You have been here before. You will be here again" explicitly teaches reincarnation, contradicting Hebrews 9:27 about dying once then judgment. Most disturbing is the complete inversion of biblical truth: calling life "suffering" and death "pure pleasure" and "love." This directly opposes God who is the source of life (John 14:6) and calls death the last enemy (1 Corinthians 15:26). The nihilistic philosophy that emerged - despising life and viewing death as everything good - contradicts the biblical view of life as God's gift. While Evan acknowledges religious people might interpret this as God, his atheistic framework and the content received suggest deception by spiritual forces opposed to God. The experience led him further from truth into believing he IS the universe rather than recognizing a personal Creator. The "peace and love" felt does not validate the source when the message completely contradicts Scripture and promotes spiritual delusion.
Evan was about to have sexual intercourse when he had his first and only seizure, becoming dizzy and closing his eyes. His vision initially looked like TV static, then as he was pulled closer, it appeared like atoms, then electrons and protons, eventually looking exactly like String Theory depictions. He was sucked into the universe which was within/inside him - everything in the universe was him, every atom and particle, with universal consciousness. Time became indescribable. He heard a voice saying "This is peace; this is love; this is truth. You know what this is. You have been here before. You will be here again. Accept it, and let yourself enter it. It is time to come back." The communication was through a sense we don't have while alive. He saw that life is extremely short, with new meanings: Life was suffering and Death was pure pleasure. He despised life as removed from truth, love, peace and pleasure, seeing Death as everything good. Being brought back was painful, foreign, sharp, unkind and jolting. Since the experience, he has developed extremely good intuition. As a scientific person, he describes it in scientific terms but recognizes religious people would use religious language - the voice might be called God, atomic particles as angels. He now believes life is suffering and death is love, understanding himself as the universe experiencing itself.
