Gregory C experienced a heart attack on June 12, 1989, while playing basketball. Despite chest pain moving from right to left side and his right arm going numb, he played three games before seeking help. At the hospital emergency room, he felt a profound spiritual calm and universal knowledge moving upward from his stomach toward his heart. He said goodbye to his wife Ann, telling her he was "going home" and not to cry. Every pore in his body exploded with love as he felt all creatures in the universe stop momentarily to smile and say "We love you." His heart stopped and a blonde nurse hit him in the chest, returning him to his body. It stopped again when a brunette nurse escorted Ann out. From above, he watched five medical staff work on him - including details he couldn't have seen: the nurse tripping over Ann's feet, the brunette taking Ann away, and the Chinese doctor's bald spot visible only from above. He experienced himself as pure plasma energy with 360-degree vision and ability to see thousands of years into the future. He was neither male nor female, pure intelligence and energy. Ann's spirit entered and begged him not to go. His heart stopped three times total (he corrected the doctor who said three, insisting it was twice). He accurately described all five people in the room and specific details later verified by staff. The experience left him knowing nobody truly dies, seeing God as residing in all beings, understanding immortality, and developing multiple psychic abilities including acting as conduit for dying persons' messages to loved ones.
BIBLICAL ANALYSIS: This experience contains remarkable veridical evidence supporting its authenticity, with multiple verified observations impossible from his physical position. Biblical elements include the out-of-body experience similar to Paul's account (2 Corinthians 12:2-3), overwhelming divine love (1 John 4:8), transformation into spiritual form transcending gender (Galatians 3:28), prophetic vision of the future, and serving as messenger for the dying (ministry of comfort). The universal love experienced and loss of death fear align with biblical promises. His description of God dwelling in all resonates with Acts 17:28 "in Him we live and move and have our being." However, significant theological concerns arise from an evangelical perspective. His pantheistic view that "God looks just like me" and "resides in all of us" as diamond-pieces of God contradicts biblical distinction between Creator and creation.
