However, the intentional nature of inducing this experience through self-harm directly contradicts biblical teachings about the body being the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). The deliberate deprivation of oxygen to achieve an altered state resembles occult practices of achieving spiritual experiences through physical manipulation rather than through prayer, faith, or divine initiative. The attempt to repeat the experience alone, despite knowing the dangers, demonstrates a form of spiritual addiction or testing God, both condemned in scripture. While God can work through any circumstance, deliberately endangering one's life to achieve spiritual experiences opposes biblical wisdom and the sanctity of life. Arnaud participated in the dangerous "choking game" near a school pond with friends in February 2008. After losing consciousness for about ten seconds, he experienced floating above the scene, observing everything happening around the pond and himself. Time seemed non-existent during the experience. He saw his friends speaking and laughing while two held him up. He felt intense warmth, wellbeing, and had a sense of total knowledge of everything. The experience felt much longer than ten seconds. Two days later, attempting it alone at home, he lost consciousness completely with no memory, waking on the floor injured and bleeding from his tongue.
