Cougar experienced three NDEs across his lifetime. At age 11, he fell from a swing set causing diaphragm shock and inability to breathe, during which he saw the past 400 years of history and gained Native American sensory perspectives. At age 24 in 1974, he had a head-on motorcycle collision breaking his back in two places. His third NDE in 1987 occurred during a severe fever that a Cherokee elder recognized as a spiritual initiation.
During his second NDE, he traveled through a tunnel of light to an alabaster temple where seven beings of light showed him future world events including wars, famines, and specifically showed him a future U.S. president with initials "R.R." who he initially thought was Roy Rogers but later recognized as Ronald Reagan when he was elected in 1980. He was told these were probable futures that could change. The third experience involved a journey to hell where he encountered dark entities and experienced complete spiritual nakedness without protection. His primary veridical observation was the prophecy of Ronald Reagan's presidency shown to him in 1974, six years before Reagan's election. He saw a man in a cowboy hat with "R.R." emblazoned on his chest who would become president. Additionally, he notes that another NDEr named Dan had the same vision within a year of his experience, both seeing the same initials and cowboy imagery. Following his NDEs, his IQ increased from normal to superior, he developed telepathic abilities, could influence electronics, and experienced significant alienation.
