Leonard's NDE contains powerful biblical elements alongside deeply problematic theological claims. The encounter with God as light perfectly aligns with 1 John 1:5: "God is light; in him there is no darkness at all." The comprehensive life review where Leonard experienced both his actions and their effects on others reflects biblical principles of judgment and accountability. God's unconditional love without condemnation echoes Romans 8:1 and demonstrates divine grace. The complete knowledge God had of Leonard's life from beginning to end resonates with Psalm 139's description of God's omniscience. The telepathic communication and deep communion with God reflect the intimate relationship Scripture describes between God and humanity. The transformative nature of the experience and the divine humor displayed show God as both holy and personally engaged with His creation.
However, the experience contains severely problematic elements that directly contradict core Christian doctrine. The claim that humans are eternal beings who "always existed" contradicts the biblical account of creation where God alone is eternal and humans are created beings with a beginning. The concept of reincarnation across multiple planets fundamentally opposes Hebrews 9:27: "It is appointed for people to die once, and after this comes judgment." Most troubling is the assertion that "we are God-man" who separated from a unified consciousness to create the universe - this is pantheistic heresy that contradicts the Creator-creature distinction fundamental to biblical faith. The cyclical universe model with endless explosions and reunifications contradicts the linear biblical narrative from creation to new creation. During a heart attack on April 20, 2009, Leonard experienced clinical death and had an extensive NDE. He felt himself leaving his body and discovered extraordinary paranormal abilities: 360-degree vision allowing him to see in all directions simultaneously, ability to zoom in on specific points, travel at the speed of thought, and pass through walls and matter. He could hear people's thoughts before they spoke. He visited his mother at her home and traveled into deep space where the sight was wonderful.
He was then sucked into a long dark tunnel at incredible speed toward a glowing pinpoint of light. Other beings in the tunnel looked at each other saying "I believe we are dead!" The light grew as he approached and when he arrived, he felt wonderful peace, joy, and incredible love. The light being, whom he asked if it was God, answered "Yes I am the light!" This being knew everything about Leonard's life from beginning to end. In the light, Leonard remembered who he truly was and received answers to all his questions about the universe, creation, cosmos, and physics - though he remembered rather than learned this knowledge, recognizing it as a divine state of being. God showed him his entire life from birth to the NDE, making him experience all events again plus the emotions he had raised in others. Leonard was his only judge. God showed him both his generous acts and unloving deeds, even seeing himself stealing sweets as a child. Yet God didn't judge him, only loved him with unconditional love described as a "force-of-love." They communicated telepathically and laughed together extensively. God revealed that we are eternal beings who always existed and always will, that we incarnated on Earth to create in matter, losing memory of our true nature each time. Before creation, all consciousness was united in one point with knowledge but no experience, so we separated into billions of consciousnesses and created the universe for experience. This cycle is unending. God eventually told Leonard he must return for his mother, showing him a vision of her crying.
