While containing some biblical elements like divine encounter and tunnel experience, the angry divine being shooting him back in fear contradicts God's loving nature in scripture. The development of psychic abilities and prophetic dreams suggests occult influence rather than Holy Spirit gifts. The suicide context and the being's harsh rejection don't align with biblical accounts of God's compassion for the suffering. The experience seems more punitive than redemptive.
Damien attempted suicide in 1995 by taking 72 sleeping pills due to severe depression. He awoke unable to move, with a high-pitched ringing in his head, realizing he would die awake. After extreme difficulty reaching 911, he lost consciousness multiple times before being resuscitated. During the experience, he felt light as air and floated up from his body, seeing medical staff working on him below.
He was thrust through a tunnel at unreal speed, feeling weightlessness. After initial fear and panic, he broke through to the other side experiencing sudden calm and newfound happiness impossible to feel while in the body - complete peace, love, tranquility and comfort. He encountered an immense light that was felt rather than seen, and began communicating telepathically with something vast, all-powerful, all-knowing and pure. The vast force became upset with him and he felt fear beyond words as he was shot like lightning back into his body. He awoke in the hospital bed after being in a coma for three days. Since then, he no longer fears death and gained new power in life. He has had prophetic dreams about future events and increased spiritual awareness. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: Out-of-body experience, tunnel passage, encountering divine light and presence, communication with all-knowing being, and being sent back against his will. The overwhelming peace and love align with biblical descriptions of divine presence. Unbiblical elements: The being becoming "upset" and shooting him back in fear doesn't align with biblical depictions of God's nature. The development of prophetic dreams and psychic abilities after the NDE raises concerns about occult influence. Suicide attempt context is problematic biblically. |
