Winton R was a young child on vacation with his family at Daytona Beach in 1959. Despite being a strong swimmer, he had never been in the ocean before. His father took him out on an inflatable raft when a rogue wave knocked both his father off his feet and Winton off the raft. This is the last thing he remembered before going under.
While underwater for approximately ten minutes, Winton found himself on the ocean bottom where the water appeared extremely bright and clear. He began swimming along the bottom when brightly colored, almost neon fish came and started playing tag with him. He discovered he could swim quite fast and enjoyed playing with them. He briefly thought he should be breathing but decided he didn't need to because he liked being there. He then began choking and came to on the beach with a lifeguard performing resuscitation, surrounded by his family and a crowd. Winton experienced being underwater in bright, clear water completely different from the actual murky ocean conditions. He interacted with brilliantly colored fish that played with him, experiencing happiness and fun rather than the panic of drowning. He had conscious thoughts about not needing to breathe while underwater for ten minutes. His father later confirmed he was underwater for approximately ten minutes before being found and resuscitated by the lifeguard. Since this experience, Winton has had numerous paranormal experiences, including encounters with a dark robed entity that has also appeared to multiple family members across generations.
