God not as described in Bible
While containing many biblical NDE elements (tunnel, light, life review, deceased beings), the conclusion that God is "not as described in the Bible" directly contradicts biblical authority. Making religion "less important" after the experience suggests moving away from biblical faith rather than toward it.
Steve had massive heart attack and stroke (brain attack), experiencing 15 cardiac arrests over 5-6 hours but remained aware most of the time. He looked down, knew he was dead but denied it saying "I can't die." Could see himself, hear doctors, but couldn't see his toes. Fell through spiral tunnel to bright but soothing light. Life review was like deck of cards being shuffled.
Experienced incredible peace, joy, unity with world, understanding of everything about universe. Wanted to tell wife goodbye and that he loved her. Encountered deceased persons and mystical beings. Now knows there is God but feels it's not as described in Bible - made him review purpose of religion, making it less important. Loves wife and life more. Doctor recorded experience on tape immediately after, still uses it in talks. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: Multiple clinical deaths, out-of-body experience, tunnel, bright light, life review, deceased persons, peace and joy, increased love for others. Unbiblical elements: Belief that God is "not that as described in the Bible," diminished importance of religion, suggesting biblical revelation is inaccurate. |
